Juanita Wilkins

Carriage House Studio would like to thank Juanita for her input and expertice in this project, when she was commissioned to write the song for this competition I was alittle sceptical that she could do it on time. She exceeded my expectations on the timeline and nailed the song. I wanted it to be personal and touch each and every contestant .... i think this song will do that. Juanita has a great voice and really is very funny when you get to know her. "Gotta be who I am" click play to listen
Canadian Singer/Songwriter Juanita Wilkins is well known for her powerful voice and engaging stage presence.
Not one to be pinned to a single genre, Juanita writes songs that reflect her eclectic tastes in music - thoughtfully, and often humourously, exploring relationships, world events, the human condition, and, especially close to her heart.
The lives of the women and men who work the farms in her rural neighbourhood. Juanita has opened for such artists as Dan Hill, Stephen Fearing, The Good Brothers, Ray Bonneville, Andy Maize and Josh Finlayson of Skydiggers, and has often been the featured special guest of Canadian Country Legend Larry Mercey. Juanita continues to impress audiences with her insightful songs, playing to sold out houses in a series of songwriter showcases, such as the Glen Williams Songwriter's Circle in Georgetown, and the Museum on the Boyne's Songwriter's Showcase.
In May 2008, Juanita shared the stage “in the round” at a special concert event with Katherine Wheatley, Wendell Ferguson, Richard Knechtel and James Gordon. In August of 2008, Juanita was the surprise hit of Summerfolk in Owen Sound, and although a newcomer to the Folk Festival Circuit, was invited to close the show, sharing the last song of the final concert with Canadian Folk great Connie Kaldor.
